The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

 

 

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses deep grief at the terrible tragedy at Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh that led to the loss of around 150 lives and injuries to many others.

 

 

Given the experience in handling such pilgrimages elsewhere and the tragedies that have taken place earlier, it is imperative that concerned state governments make adequate arrangements to handle such huge gatherings. If required the central government should also provide assistance for the same.  

 

 

The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
