The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

 

On Lavalin Case: Kerala

 

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the politically motivated Congress-led UDF government's move in approaching the Kerala High Court for an early hearing of the revision petition on allegations against CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan in the Lavalin case.  

 

The CBI court had rejected the charges in the case and it found no basis for framing a charge-sheet on November 5, 2013.  The UDF state government had impleded in the case challenging this order in February, 2014.  Nothing happened thereafter.  

 

Now, after nearly two years, the Congress-led UDF state government has moved for an early hearing of the review petition.  This is clearly a politically motivated move coming on the eve of the forthcoming Assembly election.
